Leeds is one of the main cities in the UK with a population around 800,000. There are two universities and a number of faculties in the city, which host more than 40,000 students. Most of these students are from other parts of the UK and need to find accommodation to rent close to their college or university campus.
The Trust owns three blocks of flats comprising of 47 flats of which 18 were acquired through Murabaha (a Sharia-compliant scheme of financing). The Trust is also consulting with financiers to expand this service with the acquisition of additional property, which will both help students and give increased returns for the Trust to spend on its charitable projects.
